What's being said about our programs...
"For the first time in my dental career I sat in a room and didn’t have to search for a face I recognised. I tuned to left, the right, behind me and ahead and saw my reflection. It’s an indescribable feeling.
The instant level of comfort and familiarity is something I never experienced professionally. I was home. Full, ready and prepared to receive whatever God had for me in that moment, in that space. I am grateful for Hazel Grasper for continuously extending herself to us, for loving us, with no strings attached. I am so proud of my Rockstar Sistahs who are killing it, producing, collecting, and not looking back. This truly makes me smile. I am overwhelmed with appreciation for your willingness to entertain my inquisitive mind and share the knowledge. Thank you for this." -SHAY ALLEN
"I’ve been so in awe, and just sitting still. Hazel Grasper and Sharel S Sly you ladies rock!! With every patient I have seen this week, I’ve reflected on the information shared by all the presenters. When you know better, you do better. I am LOVING the newfound friendships and dialogue that have inspired me and changed my thought process on so many clinical and administrative topics. Sunday morning worship has been stuck in my mind and flowed from my mouth all week, I’m so excited for what’s next for this awesome group of phenomenal women.
Thank you for your vision and extending the opportunity to participate, share, and strive to be even better women. I am just. in. awe." -TONTRA LOWE
"So I did a thing! I started an organisation of black female dentists called the Assoc of Black Women Dentists better known as Sistahs in Dentistry to show that contrary to society’s belief we can work together. We won’t tear each other down, but instead uplift, support and encourage each other.
Well we had our first conference where I partnered with our very own SID Dr. Hazel Glasper’s Comprehensive Continuum. She is passionate, she is compassionate, she is direct and she is dynamic. When you meet her she will command your attention. She has been a mentor and big sis to me, since me met 2 years ago. Every detail was perfect from the welcome mixer, yoga to get our minds right for the conference, relevant and necessary content, gospel singer on Sunday so we didn’t miss ”church”, and a panel where I was a panelist and we discussed hot topics.
When I tellllllll you! The conference was impactful, believe me! It was history made. Never before has black women dentists been gathered in such a manner. We’re usually speckled throughout a room at conferences, this time WE WERE THE CONFERENCE!" - SHARE S SLY
"I’m still pondering all that took place this past weekend at the Sistah to Sistah Conference. Phew! It is a lot but so necessary. Thank you Sharel S Sly and Hazel Glasper for your hard work!
I really appreciate the panel where they discussed the ”superwoman syndrome”, ”the imposter syndrome”, and past failures. I could identify with all of those. However as one of the speakers said, ”so you failed in the past, what are you going to do about it now?” That was my biggest take away I believe. I’m formulating what I’m going to do now.
I’m grateful because I feel like I found my ”secret study group” that was essentially to getting through dental school in this group. You are all amazing and I’m honoured to be in this group of unicorns (rare, beautiful, magical!) I’m looking forward to seeing how we will all go from here! ♡" -LISA BUNIN CURRY
"So many thoughts to share. Simply, THANK YOU! Thank you to Dr. Sharel S Sly & Dr. Hazel Grasper for creating the platforms for us Sistah docs form a positive and strong community.
Thank you to all my Sistah docs for their warm welcomes and conversations. It was nice to connect faces with names.
My heart is fuller, my mind is clearer, and my focus is sharper. I understand the journey toward to practice ownership and in this profession may not be easy but I have Sistahs to lean on and pull up to the next level. We are so amazing women!!!
With love, THANK YOU ALL!!!" -AYANNA B LONDON
"You have really sparked a change in me.... My goal is to step out of my comfort zone. What I got out of the conference is knowing that even people who look and act successful also have insecurities and vulnerabilities, but are able to move through goals. They are able to use their voices unapologetically to help further their goals. The conference lit a fire under me." -MARGO ROBINSON
"What an exceptional weekend of emotional intelligence, information, power, praise, professionalisms and sisterhood… All within the realm of dentistry! Great job!" -KIMBERLY TOWNES
